Kindhelm has recently completed a case study for auto guidance through retrofitting. This study was conducted in joint-effort with Parker Hannifin, and one of the targets was to develop a complete auto guidance system with select key components for AB-line control. One of the key components, Kindhelm IPESSA Classic, provides the accurate position and heading of the tractor. These measurements are fundamental information for the navigation control.
Two other key components, Parker Pro Display 12, offered fluent auto guidance HMI integration with ISOBUS TC, while Parker’s IQAN MC42 controller was in charge of guidance algorithms and steering control functions. Some benefits of this solution are the high customizability of each key component and effective software toolchains, which support the OEM to achieve the optimal performance on each vehicle type.
As a result of this study, Kindhelm developed a functional auto guidance reference design for vehicle OEMs in collaboration with Parker Hannifin. The auto guidance functionality for AB-line control was proven during the seeding season this spring. . Use of auto guidance allowed the operator to move the focus from steering to monitoring and controlling the task, and to improve the flow and quality of the work.
