We are looking for a Thesis Worker to develop and build proof-of-concept realization of visual positioning to be integrated with our existing GNSS-INS positioning system. Project target is to find methods to complement satellite based positioning for challenging environments. The solution will be based on camera and LiDAR technologies.
Satellite based positioning (GPS, GNSS) is the backbone of most outdoor positioning solutions. GNSS positioning can be enhanced with inertial navigation (INS) to get more precision and provide robustness against GNSS outages, jamming and spoofing. In structured environments such as city centers, it is often beneficial to complement the positioning even further with LiDAR and camera based positioning solutions (e.g., SLAM).
